That’s Maaheem Akhtar Seidy, a Bay Area-based music lover turned DJ who I’ve known for some years through the Coachella message boards. I’m a big believer in supporting your friends’ projects, so this week we’re diving deep into an incredible series of DJ mixes she just started dropping called “Re/Set.”
These are Boiler Room-ready, hour-ish long forays down the rabbit hole—each inspired by a theme, and released once a month. She also practices energy healing and works in content creation, so each set has reiki performed over it along with a personal essay attached to it.
“I feel like I’ve unlocked something so uniquely me with this series,” she said recently over a call a few hours before seeing Belgian techno sensation Charlotte de Witte take over Grand Park in Los Angeles. “The music nerd, DJ, writer, energist, activist all feel represented.”
